And yet again we hit Final Destination territory, what’s there to say really? I watched the first one, then I watched the second… I’m thinking of a marathon maybe? Who knows.
This one follows a girl called Kim, and her friends who are going on a road trip. However, she gets a premonition similar to Alex’s in the first movie, in which there is a big car pile up on a highway and everybody is killed. This then leads to her trying to stop the traffic from moving forward and through her hysterics, she stops a bunch of people from being killed. Now, all of these people are unwillingly and unbelievably part of deaths list, and there’s certainly some new rules this time around.
Honestly, I don’t really have much to say about this film… And that’s not a bad thing, but it’s not a good thing either. I feel that, with the original this was about as good a sequel as we were going to get. They kept the inventive and creative kills, they added some new elements to deaths list to keep things interesting throughout the film. I feel that they improved the characters in this one, but that combined with the lack of the general film not being as good as the first, lets it down a bit. I like how they got Tony Todd back, too… Awesome. Other than that though, there really isn’t much to say.
Pros; Inventive kills, better characters than the original and they added some fresh new things.
Cons; Isn’t as good as the first movie, doesn’t have the same suspense (even though the first lacked it too) and the film has so many like “OH WAIT, WE MISSED THAT” moments, I don’t know why.
Final Destination 2, is a sequel that doesn’t taint the name of the original. However, that’s mainly because the original wasn’t that good in the first place. This film hasn’t put me off carrying on with the series, they’re fun to watch, don’t get me wrong. They just don’t really have any substance behind them.
